To continuously improve brand licensing.
We are a community of Licensors who share best practices for protecting, promoting, and enhancing brand integrity.
Who We Are
SPLiCE is a trade organization founded as a best practice think-tank for trademark brand Licensors. SPLiCE was founded in 2004 with the vision to continuously improve brand licensing. Our goal in carrying out our mission is to act responsibly as a community of Licensors who share best practices for protecting, promoting, and enhancing brand integrity. As a Community of Practice, our benchmarking success is built upon our foundation cornerstones of legal, marketing, and quality that support licensing initiatives. As a Community, we encourage participation from individuals within our membership serving in the functions of anti-counterfeiting, environmental sustainability, finance, legal, marketing, quality, and social accountability. This approach defines the 360° capacity of brand licensing best practice discussions within SPLiCE and allows us to embrace a full schematic of the intellectual property realm to protect the brand. Content discussed at our meetings is specific to process as we adhere strictly to antitrust policy guidelines.
As an active Community of Best Practice, we engage a kaleidoscope of brand protection knowledge from over 40 industries. Our members are composed of business, military, and nonprofit organizations. Our 68 current member companies represent twenty-seven percent (27%) of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DOW), twenty percent (20%) of License! Global’s Top 150 Global Licensors for 2016, and eleven percent (11%) of Interbrand’s 2016 Top 100 Global Brands. The brand name licensed consumer goods industry aligns enhanced brand equity with licensees that produce goods and services for consumers.
Sixty-two percent (62%) of SPLiCE Members have a licensing program in existence for over fifteen years, ninety-five percent (95%) have a licensing program in existence for five years or more and eighty-seven percent (87%) have two or more brands to license.
SPLiCE Licensors Workshop creates a unique venue that affords members an opportunity to speak with other Licensors across industry lines who are all interested in brand protection and leveraging innovation via licensing. What makes this annual event successful is the participation by Member Licensors who understand the need for protecting their brands from brand dilution due to consumer dissatisfaction, poor quality, and product litigation. We focus the learning opportunities within licensing from a business risk management, legal and quality perspective.
This past fall we celebrated our 14th annual SPLiCE Licensors Workshop in Nashville, TN, hosted with SPLiCE Member, The Brown-Forman Corporation. Our SPLiCE Leadership Day commenced with a tour of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Headquarters and Test Kitchen.
Our 15th SPLiCE Licensors Workshop celebration will be hosted at Crayola in Easton, PA from September 12-14.
